Most people book trips they cannot fully guarantee, so the terms should be readable before any money moves. This page sets out how payments are staged, what you can change, and where the line sits between an amendment and a cancellation.
How payments are staged
A deposit confirms the request and lets us hold rooms and guides. The balance falls due a set number of weeks before departure, and we send a reminder with the exact date rather than letting you work it out from an invoice. Flights, when we book them, are usually payable in full at the time of issue.
- Deposit: at the point the route is agreed.
- Balance: several weeks before departure, confirmed in writing.
- Local extras: paid on the ground, by you or to your guide.
Refunds and cancellation
What is refundable depends on how close to departure the cancellation lands and on what the suppliers have already committed. Hotel deposits and internal flights follow their own rules, and we show those rules in the quote so the exposure is visible before you pay. When a supplier offers a credit instead of a refund, we pass the credit on rather than holding it.
Amendments
Changing a night or swapping a guide is usually a small fee plus whatever the supplier charges. Changing dates on a confirmed booking is a different operation and is priced as a re-quote. We will always tell you whether the amendment is cheaper than a cancellation before doing either.
If something fails locally
Delays, strikes and closures happen. Call the number in your pack first: the agent holding your file can usually rebook a transfer or move an entry faster than a message will. Keep receipts for anything you pay yourself and we will reconcile it on return.
